FAACNJ Humanitarian Service & Lifetime Achievement Award Criteria
The FAACNJ Humanitarian Service & Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual who is active in the Filipino-American Community of good moral character, a role-model who exhibited selfless commitment to the community, foreign and domestic through volunteer efforts that made a difference in others’ lives. The Award recognizes people who voluntarily offer their time, talent or treasure to improve the community in such areas as (but not limited to) health care, social services, youth or senior activities, the arts, education, justice, housing, community growth and development, and community morale. Activities in support of political candidates or ballot initiatives will not be considered when evaluating nominees.
The following criteria will be used to evaluate and judge nominations.

Panel of Judges
Panel of Judges will include the current FAACNJ officers and past recipients. Judges’ decisions will be final by a majority vote.
The following criteria will be used to evaluate and judge nominations.
- Proven Track Record of Volunteering within FAACNJ Community: Volunteer activities outside of FAACNJ will be evaluated and will lend weight to the nomination package. However, primary consideration will be given to those volunteer activities that occur within the community.
- Type of Service Rendered: Has the nominee actively participated in a leadership role, on multiple committees, or in support of several events or programs?
- Length of Service: How long has the nominee been actively involved with an event or program? If this is the first year, what exemplified his or her volunteer service to be nominated for the eligibility years?
- Level of Commitment: How much time, hands-on effort, money, or emotional investment has the nominee committed to the event or program?
- Impact on the FAACNJ Community: In what way is it evident that the volunteer has made lasting improvements or has effected positive change? Who has benefited and how?
- Obstacles, Challenges Nominee Overcame: What personal or professional challenges or obstacles did the nominee overcome to achieve his or her volunteer goals?
Award Criteria
- Nominees must be at least 18 years old by January 1 of the nomination year.
- Nominees must devote at least 65 percent of their volunteer efforts to programs, people or events domestic or foreign.
- Nominees may not be candidates for or holders of public office during the eligibility year.
- Nominees may not receive the award two consecutive years.
- Nominees must be unpaid individual volunteers, and may not receive any compensation for their efforts or time.
- Volunteer efforts upon which a nomination is based must have occurred and validated over a period of time. Eligibility year should be a minimum of 2 years.
Award Year Timelines
- Nomination packages will be accepted through May 30 of the nomination year.
- The Panel of Judges will evaluate the nominees and select an award winner from the three finalists who will be honored for their services. Selections will be made by June 30 of the nomination year.
- The FAACNJ Humanitarian Service & Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented at the Annual Christmas Ball held every 1st Sunday of December.
