Honoring the Life of
Romeo V. Laurente
Romeo V. Laurente Sr., M.D. EAST WINDSOR - Romeo V. Laurente Sr., M.D., FACS, 76, of East Windsor passed away Monday, April 1, 2013, at Jefferson University Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. Born in the Philippines, Dr. Laurente graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, class of 1961. He came to the U.S.A. in 1963 and completed his residency in general surgery at the Wyckoff Heights Hospital, Brooklyn, NY, and his anesthesia residency at the New York Hospital, New York, NY. Among his professional awards and accomplishments, Dr. Laurente was a diplomate and fellow of American College of Surgeons, diplomate and fellow of American College of Anesthesiology, and an attending physician at Helene Fuld Hospital, Mercer Medical Center, St. Francis Medical Center, and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. He was a 2008 honoree of the Physicians Wall of Honor at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Dr. Laurente received the Humanitarian Service and Lifetime Achievement Award from the Filipino American Association of Central New Jersey in 2012. He was a lifetime member of PAMS-NJ, the UST Medical Alumni Association, and the Association of Philippine Physicians in America. Dr. Laurente was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Gavina Laurente; his son, Alan Laurente; and his brother, Ricarido Laurente. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Cristeta Arce Laurente; his daughter, Clarissa Viale and her husband, Frederic; his sons, Romeo A. Laurente Jr. and Robert Laurente, MD; and his grandchildren, Calysta Laurente, Bryson Laurente, Enzo Viale, and Luca Viale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Raphael R.C. Church, 3500 South Broad Street, Hamilton. Private cremation will follow. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at A.S. Cole Son and Company, 22 North Main St., Cranbury, N.J. The FAACNJ officers and members are deeply saddened by the passing of their friend, mentor and one of the original Charter Members of the FAACNJ organization. Dr. Romeo Laurente, thanks for your contribution in the formation of the FAACNJ organization. 2013 Projects and Events
- Dr. Romeo Laurente - recipient of the 2013 Humanitarian Service & Lifetime Achievement Award was honored at the FAACNJ annual Holiday Ball at the Hyatt Regency Princeton on December 2, 2012.
- FAACNJ held their annual Family Picnic at Princeton Country Club on July 7, 2012. It was HOT (103 degrees), but everyone had a great time. Check our photo gallery.
- FAACNJ members participated in the Philippine Independence Day Parade in New York City on June 3, 2012.
- Dr. Eduardo Flores – recipient of the 2012 Humanitarian Service &
Leadership Award was honored at the Holiday Ball on December 4 at Princeton Hyatt Regency.
- FAACNJ launched their Medical Missions to the Philippines
